The Heat is not hot enough to leave you spellbound. It even loses steam once in a while, owing to certain cliched sequences and a standard storyline. For instance, the cops will have to undergo a makeover and dance clumsily at a nightclub to nab criminals, etc. But what makes this predictable film fun is the quirky chemistry between its leading ladies (Bullock and McCarthy). Given that the ladies are effortlessly quick and clever at it, the trick works. Even in portions where the fun element drops, the two make up for it with their repartee and bizarre attempts to keep the city clean. If you don't expect buddy cop movies to be vastly unique, The Heat is fairly entertaining.

The Heat is not a shy film by any standards. It is out there and in your face, much like the two protagonists themselves. Full of gags, it is not afraid to address issues such as discrimination on the basis of race and gender -- all perfectly blended with the right kind of humour that pokes fun at the oppression, not the victims. Despite brilliant writing and direction what really makes this film work is the chemistry that Bullock and McCarthy share. This is one on-screen pair I'd like to see more of. Hopefully, The Heat will spawn a sequel and then some more. It may be too soon to say, but considering the releases up until now, The Heat could turn out to be the movie of this year.

Think 21 Jump Street, but with two women reprising the roles of Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill.In the recent past there have been ample serious and comic cop buddy dramas. The Heat tries to ape those and in the process comes across as too formulaic. There are a few original moments thrown in between, especially those where the leads face-off in their initial encounter. But what follows is pretty much the regular routine. The writing could have been wittier. Feig tries to use the same Bridesmaids' format and recreate the feel, but it doesn't work. Watch The Heat if you enjoy McCarthy's school of humour and missed watching Bullock on the big screen.

A cliche movie made in a cliche style not able to entertain in cliche style. . The natural flow of the script is missing and it seems that the director has taken the separate set pieces and tried to make a coherent movie. Coherent it is, but in an uninteresting fashion. Although it can’t be denied that the script has some life in it and is written with a certain sense of fun. But the direction of the movie is simply not upto the mark and the quirky humor of the script suffers due to this.
