It’s a promising film that tosses around some ambitious ideas but it’s also weighed down by pacing issues and occasional script contrivances. Phillauri isn’t a consistently smooth ride. It’s uneven and bumpy and unforgivably slow in portions. But a lot of it works and some of it flies. In a landscape where original ideas are hard to come by, I’m willing to settle for that.I’m going with three out of five.Visit Site For More

Phillauri is a sweet, soaring love story that covers its inconsistent storytelling with earnestness and heart. The film has many soft spots but you walk away with a smile. Because above all, Phillauri is a celebration of love. But I’m a sucker for romance. If you’re like me, you will be able to overlook the bumps and enjoy Phillauri. The film feels, at once, fresh and old fashioned. I’m going with three stars.Visit Site For More

The actors sweep in and carry the film, though. With his body language and voice modulation, Suraj Sharma nails the confused-aimless millennial and lightens the mood. Mehreen Pirzada’s helpless and hopelessly-in-love Anu is endearing. Diljit Dosanjh brings his trademark goodness to a rather bland role. And as the translucent ghost (kudos to the VFX team), Anushka delivers a solid performance with a weird mix of sadness and humour. It seems as though Phillauri could have gone in a lot of directions, but it took the road usually travelled.Visit Site For More

Anushka Sharma is good, but not as good as she can be, and that too only in bits and pieces. A lovely song — ‘dam dam dam hai dua sau pankh lagaa tere naam ke’– which features her and Dosanjh, made me sigh. With pleasure. As a romantic interlude between two adults, it is the beating heart of ‘Phillauri’.If only the whole film pulsed with the same skill and energy.Visit Site For More

This is a shame, because Anushka Sharma, who has also produced this film, is one of our most intriguing actresses. She's fine in her part, and often beguilingly pretty, yet the film wastes her. The fundamental problem with Phillauri, I believe, may be one of miscasting. Raza Murad, the man with the greatest voice of all, is around but doesn't get to speak much. Sharma, similarly, is perfectly suitable as a ghost when gliding around or trying to blow out a chandelier bulb, but, despite sparkly translucence, she has no aura. It is in flashback that she sparks brightest, when she listens to a record for the first time, or when she allows herself to grin at the idea of shamelessness. Life becomes her.Visit Site For More

The film’s music (Jasleen Royal) is average and fails to impress except for one song ‘Sahiba’. On the other hand, the film’s background score (Sameer Uddin) is apt and elevates the film’s narrative. The VFX used in the film is decent.Full marks to the film’s cinematographer (Vishal Sinha) for turning the film into a visual delight. The film’s editor (Rameshwar S Bhagat) has done a decent job.On the whole, PHILLAURI fails to connect emotionally due to its weak and slow paced narrative. At the Box-Office, it will be an average fare.Visit Site For More

Philauri manages to keep you entertained all through. Anushka Sharma is delightful as the bride in spirit.Apart from being slightly stretched towards the end, the film’s dual track becomes tedious at times. For regular movie goers, Phillauri is a good watch thanks to its breezy vibe.Visit Site For More

Director Lal prefers to narrate his story at a languid pace and that can be frustrating for the viewers. The computer graphics in this movie is notable, barring the climax which feels overdone. It’s the predictability of the story that lets this film done. You know what’s coming long before it plays out and that makes it tedious and soul-destroying. Watch this if you are a fan of Anushka Sharma.Visit Site For More

Phillauri has two love stories interlinked with each other. Both stories are just spectacular. I mean spectacularly weak. The film is extremely slow paced. It takes you exactly a second to guess the mystery of the disappearing man (Diljit) who ditched his bride (Anushka) at the altar but the film takes years to reveal it. Phillauri despite some genuinely good performances failed to stir any emotions or strike any chord.Visit Site For More

The film has it hilarious parts but moves at a slow pace when the ghost follows Suraj and he is confused after the situation he has got himself into. But the film leaves much to be desired - the story moves in the predictable direction. There are many moments when are waiting for the movie to catch pace and surely the film could have been more tightly edited. If you are looking for some light-heartened watch this weekend, Phillauri should be your pick.Visit Site For More
