Still, the film rests largely on the able shoulders of Gulshan Devaiah, who succeeds in making you care for a character that's not always likeable. Devaiah brings an everyman earnestness to Mandar, which protects him from coming off as a deviant. Too bad the film itself is promising but ultimately disappointing. A film, that in the end, delivers little else but cheap laughs. I'm going with two out of five for 'Hunterrr'.

Mandar Ponkshe has an insatiable libido. Ironically, after countless affairs, he develops a conscience and seeks something more permanent. The dialogue is light-hearted but mercifully, doesn't depend too much on profanities or the Censor's Board list of banned cuss words. The film spans 25 years and depicts various 'sexapades' — from cheating with a Savita bhabhi to passionate sex with a married lady, All said and done, if you're up for something naughty, try Hunterrr.

Hunterrr is not a truly smart film. It is however brazen, ambitious and decidedly shameless in its celebration of sleaze.Written and directed by debutant Harshvardhan Kulkarni, Hunterrr is a deeply problematic film, one where young boys egg each other on to grope a lady at a fish-market, and where a man who coaxes a woman from airport waiting room to hotel room doesn’t consider asking her name or where she’s coming from.

The ambient elements in the film are far more interesting. The retro texture embedded in both the sound design and the visual compositions lend Hunterrr an off-kilter feel. Hunterrr has clearly been made by a cinema freak: all the more reason why it should have been a better film. The promising premise at the heart of Hunterrr is marred by a loopy, laidback storytelling style. The film is too long, too languid and eventually too loose to leave a lasting impression.

Till a point the film holds interest as the premise of a boy refusing to grow into a man and conform to the society's idea of 'responsibility' makes for a mighty interesting story. (Script also by the director of the film, Harshavardhan Kulkarni). But unfortunately, the movie gets stuck in that awkward self-obsessed teen phase along with Mandar. What also works against the film is that this is clearly a threadbare script, which is not really fleshed out enough and thus making for a film as shallow as Mandar's casual sexual escapades.

And what does it say about Indian society that men can be out-there hunters, and women have to be content to be under-the-radar prey? When will Bollywood give us a film in which men and women are equal opportunity offenders? Can it ever?

This man clearly seems to know the message that he wants to convey through the film. Full marks to him for making this 'sex' film, without making it look vulgar. Even though there are some places (esp. in the second half) where the film starts to struggle (read 'stretched'), Harshavardhan has ensured that the film progresses smoothly by hook or by crook..On the whole, if you like naughty comedy full of witty lines, then HUNTERRR is a must watch for you.

The concept seems interesting but when it's not backed by a good story it looks like the makers just are resorting to witless humor to get some eyeballs. Hunterrr seems nothing but another forced adult comedy!
