While there is no question at all that you will laugh out loud several times, be prepared to tear up occasionally. Don't say I didn't tell you – adults will likely enjoy this film much more than kids. I'm going with four out of five. It's a bold leap in storytelling.

The detailing is exquisite -- Joy, using a french fry as a pole-vault licks her salty fingers right after -- Michael Giacchino’s music is fantastic, and there is something in the film to speak to each of us. I was particularly captivated by the sound-stage on which dreams were being produced, like a live television show with scripts and actors and directors. And what critic dare rebuke a film he’d pick over a dream?

The messages are simple that hit the right notes. The narration drags at mid-point as it tells us the journey of Joy is to accept being sad. Sadness isn't necessarily an emotion to reduce, but an integral part of human life.Humour is consistently paced and each emotion gets some good jokes. It is actually during the last act and scene, when the film plunges into the minds of Riley's parents and her dog, which makes the tone amusing and attention-grabbing.The vocal cast is expertly chosen and all of them deliver beautifully.This is definitely not one of Pixar's best production in terms of visuals. The animation, with 2D and 3D effects is pixelated, oft-seen and less flashy, but nevertheless effective.This is a heart-warming funny film that may well be a bit abstract for children, but would definitely appeal to the rest.

And a few places feel both frantic and flat, despite the 3D. But the rest of it is a delight : each emotion has its place, and it is only when Joy ( Poehler) discovers the vital importance of Sadness ( Smith) that balance is restored, and everything becomes all right with the world. You want to be happy? You have to learn how to be sad, experience it, and work through it.

What will strike you immediately about this movie is just how novel the entire concept really is. Just like some of the really good animated movies we've seen in the past, this one quite literally has a cerebral angle (pun intended in this case!), so to speak. It puts the emotions of a child front and centre.Dressed up in colourful and wildly imaginative garb - yet making sense every step of the way - Inside Out can be enjoyed by a variety of age groups and is both nuanced and sensitive without sacrificing the fun angle.

Though Inside Out isn’t Pixar’s finest film to date, it is certainly a step up from what we’ve seen in recent years. It dares to do something different and does it well. The magnificent concept is occasionally bogged down by some parts of the execution that are less than perfect. However, these flaws are easy to ignore in an otherwise amazing film. Inside Out is the perfect film to enjoy with your family. It has something that can appeal to both children and adults. Stunning animation, coupled with an innovative plot, makes this film a must-watch for everyone.
