Non Stop Movie Review

Ratings:4/5 Review By: Gavin Rasquinha Site:Times Of India
Every trick in the plane-hijack-movie handbook is thrown into this by-the-numbers film, along with some interesting twists and turns. There are several standout scenes - the hand-to-hand combat sequence in one of the toilets in the plane, shot from multiple angles, is particularly harrowing. And the contrasts in the film - shots of passengers calmly sleeping, often alternating between frantic behind-the-scenes scurrying, are also interesting. If there's a film that is pretty much true to its name, then this one is it. Another variation on the classic theme of a plane hijack, the movie is relentless with not a wasted second.

As the title promises Non-Stop offers an uninterrupted rush of adrenaline in this highjacking thriller where the plot changes every 15 minutes. It is tight, gripping and a lot of fun! There is something exciting about films set on a passenger flight (Snakes on a Plane, Red Eye, Flightplan) where watching the drama unfold 50,000 feet up in the sky is quite engaging. Liam Neeson plays an air marshal who gets a text from an unknown person aboard the plane saying he will kill one passenger every 20 minutes if 150 million dollars aren't deposited into his account. What follows are a series of mind boggling events and revelations that will keep you on the edge of your seat!

The pacing of the movie is fast and crisp, at no time will you be uninterested. The allure of the movie resides with the ability of the script to keep you guessing. Julianne Moore adds to the entertainment of the movie, as a great and charismatic co-star while the cramped setting of the aircraft adds the much needed urgency and fright that a thriller should ideally include. The setting and the wide list of suspects aboard the plane makes you wonder who exactly the real terrorist is. No one can be eliminated as a suspect as Marks soon realises. Oscar worthy this is not, nor might you remember it years later, but for now the movie is a fun way to kill a couple of hours.

Non-Stop promises much and delivers very little. Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, the movie takes us on a rather slow moving, supposed thriller. In fact, this is one of those films that remind us about the tedium of traveling by air. If you are a fan of Liam Neeson, you might enjoy him growling and kicking ass. He is 61 years old, hard to believe isn’t it? If you have 2 hours to kill, and you have left your brain at home, then this movie works. Don’t expect great shocks, or plot twists, you can see them from a mile away
