At a time when we are celebrating a thinking Piku, a rebellious Tanu and her spirited twin Datto; why do we need women characters who whimper? HAK's moments come from its lead cast who pitch in their best for the most part. The music is a soothing balm. Suri should know that even cinema Goliaths cannot rise above the written word.

Mahesh Bhatt has penned this semi-biographical convoluted saga, with well-etched characters who are intense and complex. High on emotional quotient, he leaves his imprint with the well-structured, tight and intelligently-woven script. But it is the cliched, archaic and effusive expositions that nail the narrative. Watch this one if you are moved by sad love stories. The good performances are an added bonus.

Hamari Adhuri Kahani is a film where three fine actors all play idiots. This time, working from a script written by Mahesh Bhatt, his focus appears to be not story but, simply, sadness. The characters are all pathetic folk with twisted childhoods. The film is a dreadful drag, with godawful dialogue.

When the trio of Vidya Balan, Rajkummar Rao and Emraan Hashmi competent actors all, Rao even better — comes together, you expect something. What ‘Hamari Adhuri Kahani’ does is the exact opposite. It purports to be an unusual triangle, and perhaps on paper, it may have come off as one. But this is a shockingly empty film, with the entire cast desperately ‘acting away’, and not one sentiment that feels real.

Hamari Adhuri Kahani is mostly dependent on its lead actors and they’ve done a satisfactory job. It’s one of those films which reveals its latent potential and then fails to capitalise on it. Hamari Adhuri Kahani is watchable, but it is not likely to ignite a passionate fire in your heart.

First things first. Despite having a huge 'star presence' in the form of acting power horses like Emraan Hashmi, Vidya Balan and Rajkumar Rao, the film simply fails to register in the minds of the audience. And the main reason for the same is its weak script that is combined with heavy melodrama, which is tough to digest in today's time. The film's characters are half baked and operate on some bizarre logic which makes you laugh after a point!.On the whole, HAMARI ADHURI KAHANI is definitely very 'adhuri' on entertainment value and can be skipped.

What could be worse than watching a love story and not feel its sting. It fails to involve you and suck you in on any level. Thanks to the larger than life cinematic liberties taken by Suri, you cannot enjoy this film. Watch or Not?: No! There are better things to do on a weekend than watch a love story that is painfully slow, illogical and has no conclusions whatsoever.

Hamari Adhuri Kahani is a film about a woman who is in love with a rich man but feels dutiful towards her abusive husband. Decent storyline lost in cheesy, very cheesy, no no no, cheesiness-raised-to-the-power-infinity dialogues that I feel I have devoured the entire Cheesecake Factory at MOE. In its defense, it could have been a good film.

What the film could have been, and which it briefly is, is about a woman, who, despite her over-bearing reality, breaks free from tradition, follows her heart and triumphs. Instead, she stupidly walks with her suitcase into the sand dunes. No, this is not an incomplete story. It’s just a badly told one.
